Referred to as our "watchword of faith," it declares our belief in one God. This prayer serves as the centerpiece of morning and evening services.

Hebrew Text:

שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ יְהוָה אֶחָד!
בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתוֹ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד.

Transliteration:

Sh’ma Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad!
Baruch shem k’vod malchuto l’olam va-ed.

Translation:

Hear, O Israel, Adonai is our God, Adonai is One!
Blessed is God’s glorious majesty forever and ever.
